About Our School

Philosophy and Mission

The School of Education offers its programs within The College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University. Our teaching, research, and outreach support the mission of CSU's Land Grant and Carnegie I Research Institution status. Our guiding values are respect, collaboration, effective communication, inclusivity, autonomy, high standards, flexibility, and the pursuit of knowledge, as evidenced through intellectual thought, research, teaching, and productivity.

The mission of the School of Education is to use communication, leadership, and facilitation skills effectively in teaching, research, and engagement in order to empower and support prospective and practicing educators to become personally and professionally competent, effective, and caring community members.

The School of Education faculty is comprised of educator-scholars whose expertise spans diverse learning contexts and populations. Innovative instruction, equitable access, technology education, distance education, service learning, professional development school partnerships, and rigorous research methodologies characterize our program. Our faculty expertise and philosophy, along with our mission-focus guide us to educational and social inquiry driven by attention to human development, psychology, and organizational leadership.
